I did a workout today. I felt like I really needed a good sweat out, and if I did that I could “cheat” with a very quick shower afterwards.
When I was a teenager and my eczema was super bad, I would always go for a really long run and sweat my face off. I felt like that really cleansed my skin out and it would improve in the days after.
Eventually I kept doing that and over the years the heavy exercise improved my health greatly, I often credit that to curing my eczema into my twenties.
So in the morning I loaded up a 30 minute HIIT workout on Youtube. If you don’t know what HIIT is, it stands for “high intensity interval training” and is basically designed to exhaust you until you’re lying on the floor dying.
Here’s the interesting thing: When I workout, I’m usually the guy that starts sweating like crazy from the beginning. My personal trainer back when I was younger told me that’s actually a sign of very good health. It means you’re well hydrated and your body is functioning as it should.
So I start doing my HIIT workout, and I also have a thick tracksuit on because I want to sweat as much as possible. And I’m expecting to start sweating within a few minutes but I don’t. Then ten minutes in, I’m still not sweating. And when I get to the end of the 40 minutes, I still haven’t started sweating at all! That’s when I realised this NMT really is drying out my skin and pulling water out of my body and changing the way my body functions. If I’m not sweating during a HIIT workout, well then I know something has definitely changed.
I’m still not sure if it’s a healthy thing or not, but the water withdrawal is definitely working.
(I still took a 1 minute shower afterwards, couldn’t resist!)
Keep fighting everyone.
